Hirschsprung Disease Association Contact Day

Connection, recognition, and a day to remember
On March 21, 2026, the National Contact Day of the Hirschsprung Disease Association took place at Madurodam. With 175 participants—patients, parents, children, and healthcare professionals—the day was entirely dedicated to meeting one another, sharing knowledge, and above all, connecting with others who share similar experiences.

For many attendees, this day holds deep meaning. Hirschsprung disease is rare, which makes it difficult to meet others who truly understand what you’re going through. That is exactly why coming together is so valuable: it offers recognition, support, and a genuine sense of connection.

The power of coming together

The goal of the day was clear: to bring people together, share experiences, and increase knowledge. By combining personal stories with informative sessions led by speakers and specialists, the program created a space where connection was at the heart of everything.

Participants felt seen and heard—and that is exactly what the association stands for.

Why Madurodam?

As participants travel from all over the Netherlands and Belgium, the association chooses a different location each year. For this edition, Madurodam was selected for its unique combination of atmosphere, flexibility, and accessibility.

The distinctive character of the park, along with the opportunity to combine the program with a visit to Madurodam, made it an inspiring setting. In addition, the event spaces—together with a private entrance and reception area—provided peace, privacy, and a sense of comfort. A perfect balance that contributed to a safe and relaxed atmosphere throughout the day.

Feedback from participants was unanimously positive, and the most important objective—strengthening peer connections—was fully achieved.

"A well-organized, educational, and warm location where everything comes together"

A pleasant collaboration

From the very first contact, the collaboration felt right. The Madurodam team actively contributed ideas, offered creative solutions, remained flexible, and ensured smooth and personal communication throughout the preparations.

“From the very first contact, we felt welcome. From sales to the team on the day itself—everything was exceptionally well organized.”

What did we achieve?

The day delivered exactly what was needed:

  • New connections between patients and families
  • Increased knowledge and understanding
  • A strong sense of togetherness
  • A warm, carefree, and enjoyable experience for everyone
