More than just a miniature park

Princess Beatrix opened Madurodam on 2 July 1952. But from day one it has always been more than just a theme park that shows the best of the Netherlands. It was founded as a living memorial for the war hero George Maduro and as a means of raising money for charities. Since then, Madurodam has donated more than 32 million euros to children’s charities through the ‘Madurodam Kinderfonds’ Children's Fund.
